How to turn on Google Earthquake Alert on Mobile
Requirements:
- An Android smartphone running Android version 5 or higher.
- Wi-Fi or cellular internet connectivity.
Steps:
Follow these steps to enable or disable Earthquake alerts on your Android device:
- Launch your phone’s Settings app.
- Search for the option labeled “Earthquake alerts in Safety & Emergency”
- If you cannot find “Earthquake alerts” directly, navigate to Location > Earthquake alerts.
In ONEPLUS 9 RT, Settings > Locations > Earthquake alerts > Toggle the Earthquake Alert to on/off

Google Earthquake Alert utilizes a combination of sensors and data from public sources to detect earthquakes in advance.
Google Earthquake Alert offers two types of alerts: “Be Aware” for light shaking and “Take Action” for moderate to heavy shaking.
Please be aware that Google Earthquake Alert alerts will override Do Not Disturb settings, activating your screen and emitting a loud sound.

- Keep your phone charged at all times to ensure it can detect earthquakes when needed.
- Maintain your phone’s location services turned on to enable Google to accurately pinpoint your location and send relevant alerts.
- If you receive a Google Earthquake Alert, take it seriously and follow safety measures like “drop, cover, and hold on.”
